The problem facing surveying students in Nigeria is the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed in the field. The essence of the survey camp lies in bridging this gap by providing hands-on experience, networking opportunities, and industry insights. Through practical training and specialized tracks, the camp aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary for success in the surveying profession, thus addressing the practical needs of students and contributing to the advancement of the field in Nigeria. The NISGS Inspire Camp 2024 promises to be an enriching and impactful event, offering hands-on practical experience and valuable insights to students in the field of surveying and geomatics. Scheduled to take place from May 28th to June 1st, 2024, in Rivers State, the survey camp aims to achieve the following objectives:

  • 1. Practical Experience: Participants will have the opportunity to gain practical skills in various surveying techniques and geospatial technologies through interactive sessions and fieldwork.
  • 2. Networking Opportunities: The event will foster networking among students, professionals, and representatives from the surveying industry, facilitating mentorship and future collaboration.
  • 3. Specialized Training: Students can choose from tracks in GIS applications, remote sensing, or surveying technology advancements, allowing them to deepen their knowledge in specific areas of interest.
  • 4. Industry Insight: Seminars and lectures will provide insights into the historical significance, current trends, and future prospects of surveying and geomatics, preparing participants for the evolving landscape of the profession.
  • 5. Professional Development: Certification on all areas practical and training sessions with accredited and recognized MOOCs and free ArcGIS Lifetime license to all participants.
